At Jefferson Monroe Fire department we are made of a wide variety of people and backgrounds.

Cera is one of our first responders who recently completed her National Firefighter I Certification and holds an EMT – P certification. There is little she can’t do in an emergency situation. She is a long term Swisher, Iowan who has traveled the nation and world protecting our freedoms. As a mother of two and #3 on the way Cera and her husband have found a calling in the community they feel rooted in.

Have a Safe holiday and toast the Saint Patrick.

Chief Heims’ famous Corn Casserole Recipe:


1 box Jiffy corn muffin mix
1 egg
1 stick butter, melted
1 C sour cream
16 oz or more frozen corn
salt, pepper, onion to taste


  • Preheat oven to 375
  • Thaw corn and combine all ingredients.
  • Bake in greased baking dish for 40-50 minutes or golden across the top.
    Good recipe to double or triple for large crowds!!

Johnson County Hazmat will be giving us a refresher course on HazMat Operations.

This will be put on by none other than our very own Chris Lacey. He will be bringing the Hazmat vehicle with so we can review and tour the operational deployment and tools.

Members need to attend if you plan to go on Mutual Aid Calls!
